I decided to change it up and not post a review today. Mostly because it’s my sister’s birthday and we have a lot to do in the next couple of hours. So Instead of a review I’m writing about my top 3 favorite book characters.
This list is in no particular order, its just how I thought about them when coming up with this list.
1. Cath Avery: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I know that I just wrote a huge post about this book but I had to put her on here. Cath is every bit the average college student going through a new situation all while dealing with her anxiety. She’s the most relatable character I’ve read in a long time. She is trying to navigate a new situation with nothing to hold her afloat. She gains a new friend when she was trying not to make friends and eventually a boyfriend who allows her to be herself.
2. Will Herondale: The Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare
The moment Will walked onto the page, I knew I was going to like him. I instantly got a good character and I was barely into the book and knew nothing about him. His character originally did not want to be a Shadowhunter, but once he accidentally released a demon, was told he was cursed to have everyone he love die, and then his sister dies. He runs away to become a Shadowhunter. He struggles with his curse throughout the trilogy and eventually finds out that it was all a lie. Also what character has a fear of ducks besides Jace Herondale.
3. Magnus Bane: The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices, and Magnus Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare
We don’t always get an eccentric character like Magnus Bane very often. What other book character out there that you can think of is banned from Peru and started a stampede of llamas? Not many I could guess. He is such an interesting character and we get to see him over many time periods through the books he is in. We get to see him fall in love with a Shadowhunter and adopt two sons, one Shadowhunter and the other a warlock.
I tried to write this post as a top 5, but I began having trouble picking two other characters to add to this list. So I thought I would add a list of characters I loved, but was unsure of where to put them.
1. Vivian Carter: Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu
Vivian is a character that decides she is tired of what is happening at her school. She starts a feminist zine anonymously that starts a movement. She is warring over her sweet girl image and what she feels inside the whole story. In the end, she balances both of them.
2. Jack: Room by Emma Donoghue
Jack is a character that makes us look at our selves and our materialistic lives. This book is one of my favorites and thinking about who I loved from this book, it was Jack. He is such an innocent character who has been through hard times and made it through.
3. Dimple: When Dimple met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
Dimple spends so much time trying to break away from her families traditions and follow her own path. She goes to a summer camp for aspiring web developers where she meets Rishi. The man her parents want to her to marry and she is against this tradition. Over the course of the book, she falls in love with him and learns that she can have her dream at the same time.
4. Apollo: Trials of Apollo series by Rick Riordan
Apollo is probably one of my favorite characters through this whole universe. Cast down from Olympus and forced to live as a mortal, Apollo is immediately thrown into an adventure. He is forced to learn to work around his limits and learns that not everything from his former life is gone.
Let me know down below who your favorite characters are and if you enjoyed any of the characters on mine. See you Thursday for another review.
